PSPSS00061 Procurement Basics

This skill set provide skills and knowledge required by those undertaking basic procurement as part of their role.

This skill set offers the essential skills and knowledge needed for individuals who are tasked with basic procurement functions as a part of their job responsibilities. In a variety of organisational contexts, whether in the public or private sector, the ability to navigate the procurement process is crucial, even for those whose primary roles may lie elsewhere. This program ensures that individuals can effectively source, evaluate suppliers, and make informed procurement decisions, contributing to the smooth operation of their organisation’s procurement activities. By equipping them with these foundational skills, this skill set empowers professionals to carry out their procurement duties with confidence and proficiency, all the while supporting their organisation’s broader goals and objectives.

• PSPETH006 – Uphold the values and principles of public service
• PSPLEG005 – Comply with legislation in the public sector
• PSPPCM028 – Carry out basic procurement

Completion of this skill set contributes to PSP30122 Certificate III in Government.

The course is completed in two (2) full days. 

Course participants can attend this course in-person, on client site or on a Pro Leaders’ Training Centre, or virtually via live streaming.  Pro Leaders’ Training Centres can provide a blended approach that allows course participants to either attend the same course virtually or in-person.

Specific Requirements

No formal education required, however some exposure to procurement and/or purchasing within a commercial environment is advantageous. 

General Requirements

Course participants must have a functional level of English and have the capacity for independent learning and group work.
