PSPSS00056 Public Sector Manager Skill Set

This skill set provides the skills and knowledge to address requirements of those commencing in management roles within in the public sector.

This skill set is tailored to offer individuals the foundational skills and knowledge necessary to meet the requirements when embarking on management roles within the public sector. As newcomers to leadership positions, these professionals encounter unique challenges and responsibilities. This skill set equips them with the essential tools to manage teams, projects, and resources effectively. It also addresses the nuances of public sector operations, including compliance, policy adherence, and public service excellence. By providing the required skill set for those at the outset of their management journey, this program ensures that they are well-prepared to contribute to the public sector’s mission and serve the community effectively while making a meaningful impact in their managerial roles.

Course Units:

• PSPGEN101 – Use complex workplace communication strategies
• PSPLEG007 – Promote compliance with legislation in the public sector
• PSPETH008 – Promote the values and ethos of the public sector
• PSPGEN115 – Uphold and support inclusive workplace practices

The course is completed in four (4) full days. 

Course participants can attend this course in-person, on client site or on a Pro Leaders’ Training Centre, or virtually via live streaming.  Pro Leaders’ Training Centres can provide a blended approach that allows course participants to either attend the same course virtually or in-person.

Specific Requirements

No formal education required, however some exposure to procurement and/or purchasing within a commercial environment is advantageous. 

General Requirements

Course participants must have a functional level of English and have the capacity for independent learning and group work.
