PSP30122 Certificate III in Government

The Certificate III in Government is an entry-level qualification aimed at the APS3-4 classifications, or equivalent, that provides an introduction to the public service and will focus on the activities of this classification including responsible handling sensitive information, ability to carry out basic procurement, and addressing both internal and external client needs. 

This course will introduce a range of the more common legislation and policies that relates to the public service, and it will focus on creating an inclusive and diverse workplace.  It will prepare you for a career in the public service to understand how the public service work and the expectations of the public service workplace. 

This qualification is ideal for people who are:

• Tertiary Graduates
• New to the public service
• Administrative Support
• Customer Service Liaison

This course consists of four (4) required units and nine (9) elective units:

Required Units:

• PSPETH006 – Uphold the values and principles of public service
• PSPGEN096 – Use workplace communication strategies
• PSPGEN114 – Work effectively with diversity and inclusion
• PSPLEG005 – Comply with legislation in the public sector

Elective Units:

• BSBWHS211 – Contribute to the health and safety of self and others
• BSBPEF302 – Develop self-awareness
• PSPGEN089 – Address client needs
• PSPGEN138 – Organise workplace information
• PSPGEN139 – Compose workplace documents
• PSPGEN145 – Work effectively in the organisation
• PSPGEN146 – Contribute to workgroup activities
• PSPPCM028 – Carry out basic procurement
• PSPSEC024 – Handle sensitive information

Upon satisfactory completion of this course, course participants will be awarded with the PSP30122 Certificate III in Government qualification. 

Satisfactory completion includes daily attendance of the course, completion of both classroom and individual assessment, and contribution towards discussions and group work.

Classroom training is delivered over nine (9) full days, generally over four blocks of training, within a 2-3 month period.

Course participants can attend this course in-person, on client site or on a Pro Leaders’ Training Centre, or virtually via live streaming.  Pro Leaders’ Training Centres can provide a blended approach that allows course participants to either attend the same course virtually or in-person.

For those with experience and/or related prior learning, we offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Specific Requirements

No formal education required, however some exposure to government is required.

Course participants must have a functional level of English and have the capacity for independent learning and group work.
